Aswan: building skills close to home

A new workshop and vocational training for Nubian, Sudanese and Egyptian communities in Upper Egypt.

  1. 01

    The challenge

Opportunities for vocational training and stable work are scarce in Upper Egypt — especially for women and for Sudanese families who have settled in the region.

  2. 02

    What Impact did

Building on years of relationships with Nubian and Sudanese communities, Impact established and furnished a sewing workshop and office in Aswan and invested in local leaders committed to serving their communities.

  3. 03

    Who took part

In the first Train to Hire cycles, 50 trainees in Aswan completed tailoring, sewing and leathercraft courses.

  4. 04

    What changed

Women gained practical skills in their own city, with a workshop nearby that can turn training into production.

  5. 05

    What comes next

Impact aims to grow local leadership and employment in Aswan alongside its training programs.
