The challenge
Teachers in community schools serving displaced children see the effects of trauma every day — in behaviour, concentration and learning — often without training or support for themselves.
- 02
What Impact did
Impact trains educators in trauma-informed pedagogy and calming strategies, runs socio-emotional learning and safeguarding series for learning centres, and convenes educational leaders.
- 03
Who took part
74 teachers trained in trauma-informed teaching (Nov 2023); 89 educators at the Educational Leaders Conference; 14 community learning centres in the SEL and safeguarding series.
- 04
What changed
Teachers learned how trauma affects behaviour and learning and practised calming strategies. They also voiced a clear need for wellbeing support — which shaped Impact’s Teachers’ Wellbeing Training.
- 05
What comes next
For 2025–2026, Impact is developing pathways to literacy, numeracy, socio-emotional learning and trauma-informed teaching programs.
